What is coming up in Class!

Math – We have been working on Linear Measurement for the past few weeks. We have been investigated the metric system. Last week we our focus was on Perimeter.
This week we will have a brief quiz. Your child will be asked to select and justify the most appropriate standard unit (i.e., millimetre, centimetre, decimetre, metre, kilometre) to measure an object. Example: What unit would you use to measure the distance from the school to South Keys? What unit would you use to measure the length of your pencil? Why? They will be asked the convert a measurement to a new unit. Convert 4m to ____cm or 2km to ____m. There will also be a problem that requires conversion from metres to centimetres or from kilometres to metres. The math review sheet this week will be a practice for the quiz on Wednesday.
We will finish Perimeter on Monday and focus on Area for the remainder of the week. We will have a short quiz on Perimeter and Area near the end of the following week.
Our next unit in Mathematics will be Geometry. We will start the unit before Christmas holidays begin
Language – We are working on our Biographies. At this point your child should have selected the person they want to write about and have gathered their jot notes. Some students have started their rough copies. Next week rough copies should be complete and most students should have their good copies done as well. There will be plenty of class time for this assignment it is not to be completed as an at home project. Students will be asked to share their Biographies with the class any time after Dec 13. All Biographies must be done and presented by December 20.
Of course we will also be preparing our bit for the Christmas concert and focusing on the season of Advent in Religion. On December 20th our class will travel to Holy Cross church for Mass.
Please check the school website for the upcoming events in the school.
Sincerely,

Mrs T
