The Autumn is going so quickly this year.  It is hard to believe that Advent begins on Sunday!  

In Language, this week our poem is Birthdays.  We had a brief discussion today about proper nouns, thanks to the words of the week.  We will be focusing on reading and writing a clear retell. We had a special guest in today to help us learn how to use Book Creator which is an app in our student portal.  We will use Book Creator for a partner science task.

In Mathematics, we are finishing up our unit on patterning.  We have worked on number patterns, growing and shrinking number patterns and pattern rules.  This week we will focus on using a Table of Values to show a pattern. We will also be making repeating patterns with two different attributes and two pattern rules.  

In Science, we are finishing our unit on Forces.  I will send the students notes home on Wed and they can read over their notes.  We will have a short quiz next Monday to finish the unit. Please make sure students return their science books on Monday.  The students will be asked to

• List the five forces we studied
• Identify the force being described
• Describe how a force is used in daily life
• Answer a few True or False questions

Looking ahead, December is almost here which means we will be swimming soon!  If you have not already done so, please return the swim permission form. This is a part of our physical education program in Gr. 3.
