Happy Thanksgiving!
It was a busy short week last week, especially on Friday with the Mass and the HoeDown. Don’t forget to check the school Twitter account or the school website for pictures from the day.
In Math, we worked on recognizing and naming decimal numbers to the hundredth place. This week we will continue to explore decimal numbers.  Our learning goals will be to compare numbers with decimals (i.e. 4.32 is greater than 4.3). We will work on ordering  numbers with decimals from least to greatest.  We will round decimals to the nearest tenth or whole number.  We will begin adding and subtracting decimal numbers early next week. This will include adding and subtracting money.  There will be another math test on place value which will include decimals next week.  I will confirm the date of the test and send home a pretest for students to complete before hand.  Looking ahead our next math unit will be Patterning.
In Language, we focused on writing a clear Reading Response following an outline.  Tonight your child will bring home the hamburger outline to help them write the paragraph this week for their BookLog.  The object of the weekly reading assignment is to improve the students writing skills and ability to answer a question.  It also allows the students to demonstrate they understand the books they are choosing to read and that they are engaged.  By Grade 5 all students should be able to write a paragraph that has proper punctuation and capitalization.  Encourage your child to edit their BookLog before submitting it on Friday.
This week we also continued to work on our Digital Citizenship Pledge.  I will post a copy on the blog when it is completed.
There are many forms due back this week.  Please check the list in the sidebar.  The Walkathon is Friday.  Please remind your child to bring their pledge form and money collected back to school Friday.
Have a great week.
Sincerely,

Mrs. T
